The Palace of Versailles

The palace of Versailles, commissioned by King Louis XIV of France, was designed and built by the finest craftsmen of its time. It is always of interest for Ateliers de France to participate on its restoration campaigns. In this context, H. Chevalier was responsible for the restoration of the limestone façade facing the gardens. H. Chevalier has also restored the carriage gallery located in an annexed building holding a collection of vehicles owned by the royal family. Currently H. Chevalier continues to work on the restoration of the royal chapel.

Socra has also participated in this life long effort by restoring the famous Hall of Mirrors including the glass, marble and bronzes and continues today with the restoration of metal statues from the chapel.

Atelier Meriguet-Carrère, working as a team with ARCOA and Atelier Louis del Boca, has recently restored the Coronation Hall and the state bedroom of Queen Marie Antoinette including gilding, decorative paint and papier-mâché.
